PageGroup Celebrates 20 years in Hong Kong

7 April 2014: Twenty years ago, global recruitment company Michael Page commenced operations in Hong Kong. In recent years, the Page Personnel and Page Executive brands were established and over this time, PageGroup plc has grown to approximately 150 people in Hong Kong.

Andy Bentote, Senior Managing Director, Hong Kong and Southern China says, “Business success can be demonstrated in several ways, and longevity is certainly a key indicator. We have worked hard over the past 20 years to provide a premium recruitment offering to our clients and candidates, and the team feels a great sense of pride and achievement in celebrating this milestone.”

“Of course, this achievement is also due to our exceptional, hard working team as well as our committed candidates and clients who have partnered with us over the years. We are very grateful for the support,” he adds.

Hong Kong was the first office PageGroup plc established in Greater China and the strong growth and success achieved provided the experience, expertise and confidence to further expand the business across the region. Now with approximately 450 people in 10 offices across the Greater China region, the company is very proud to have built a strong position of market leadership and more importantly a framework and foundation for further growth and development.

“The PageGroup approach of identifying opportunities in new market segments and growing the business organically has proved a sound strategy for the Michael Page, Page Personnel and Page Executive brands,” says Anthony Thompson, Regional Managing Director of PageGroup in Greater China. “In Greater China, we are proud of our reputation for quality, specialism and expertise in everything that we do.”

A strong focus over the past two decades has been hiring the most talented people available in Hong Kong and across the region and developing a local management team with a truly international perspective.

“The combined PageGroup experience of our senior executives in Greater China is more than 175 years and this kind of stability and continuity is unparalleled in the recruitment industry in the region,” says Louisa Yeung, Managing Director, Page Executive, Greater China.

The recruitment landscape across the region has changed significantly over the past 20 years due to the well documented economic growth and the expanding recruitment market. The PageGroup business has remained at the forefront of regional trends and while there is a sense of pride for what has been achieved, there is a tremendous excitement surrounding the future in Hong Kong and Greater China overall.

In addition to providing a premium recruitment offering, the team has been busy supporting charity initiatives, in particular providing long-term fundraising support to the St Baldrick’s Foundation and Operation Smile

“As we celebrate 20 years in Hong Kong it’s a great time to say thank you to the many, many people and businesses who have supported us and to continue to ensure that we play an active role in helping the communities that we are fortunate to work in.  We remain committed to our charity partnerships in the Greater China region and a number of us will be participating in the St Baldrick’s Foundation’s annual charity shave event this month for the sixth consecutive year which will be followed by the Great Wall Marathon in May in support of Operation Smile,” Mr. Thompson adds.
